Feelings

Feelings are a part of who we are. It is how we communicate, how we share, how we love. What about those lost feelings from long ago? Those unused feelings brought back to remembrance? Today I am feeling something that I haven't felt in a long time: the feeling of sore muscles that have been brought suddenly back to life thanks to a great workout yesterday. I love knowing that what I did the day before worked because I'm sore today. I just need to remember the fact that muscles are becoming stronger as I ache to bend down, strain to reach the top shelf, and barely make it up the stairs. What a great feeling!

10 Up or Down?

With the holidays fast approaching, it's time to decide what to do with the number 10? Not do we invite 10 guests over for Thanksgiving dinner, or even buying 10 gifts for family and friends, or the 10th trip to Walmart in a week. I'm talking about the 10 pounds we can either gain or lose during the next two months. I know, with all the goodies and family dinners how easy it is to gain 10 pounds over the holidays. Well what if we gave ourselves a treat of a different sort -- lose 10 pounds! But lets be real here, who really wants to give up the mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade rolls, pies, and goodies made with love, not I (I really do love my sweets). I know for me I will just have to make the choice to have a little taste, not the whole batch. What's the choice -- 10 lbs gained or 10 lbs lost, or for some to simply maintain.

Here is my challenge:

Lose 10 lbs before the new year starts!

A New Start

So here I am a week after I start this blog and finally blogging. I usually get a little fitness in here or there on a regular basis, but this last week I focused more on getting intense workouts, really putting in the time and work load. Well would you know it I ended getting the stomach flu and then a nasty case of a head cold. Hopefully there was no correlation between working out and getting sick! So this week I am back on track. Nick and I do P90x in the morning, it is really fun to do it together and motivate each other to keep with it and BRING IT! The only draw back is we don't have bigger weights to really push it harder.

I have been a runner off and on over the years. But after a busy summer filled with vacations and kid activities, my running took a back seat. I was surprised when I finished my run this morning how difficult it was to even go the 2 miles I got in. A month or so ago I decided to become a more serious runner and train for a half marathon planned for July 2011. With the craziness of the holidays coming I will officially start training the first of January, but I plan to keep running when I can through all the busyness. I will keep a miles ran tracker on the sidebar to keep track of how many miles I run, it should be fun to see the number change!

Welcome!

Hi and welcome to my new blog! I am very excited to start posting about my personal journey as I continue to work on being healthier. This blog will be the place for me to share my success and those unforgiving missteps along the way. I have always dealt with weight as an issue, but really who hasn't. For me it is not about become a certain size or even a certain weight. I have learned over the years that I am who I am and I have the body that I have. I know I will never be a size 2, 4, 6, or even size 8 (but wow wouldn't that be something!) This journey for me will be about finding my true self and becoming the best ME that I can be. I hope to change more in my life than just my physical attributes. I want to become a better mother and wife, and rediscover and find myself.

I also know how important it is to have the strength and support from others. Knowing that people are reading my blog and encouraging me along the way will help keep me motivated. So as I put myself out there and share my story, feel free to leave comments or even become a follower. Pass along this blog to friends who might be interested in sharing some of the same experiences as we all try to be better, being the best selves we can be.
